BABA - beautiful folk storage/puff in a choice of covers

On the one hand I'm a fan of folk design. I like the colours and energy which folk inspired items bring to the interiors.  On the other, I need some smaller or bigger changes in my home every few months. As I am a practical person, I do appreciate the idea of furniture and home accessories which can be easily made over. That is why I decided to introduce BABA.

The official souvenirs of Polish Presidency of the EU Council.

Several products has been commissioned as the official souvenirs of the Polish EU Presidency. These are: handmade wooden spinning tops in four folk patterns, cuff-links from silver and striped flint from Krzemionki Opatowskie (this stone occurs nowhere else on Earth), set of ceramic mug and honey jar and leather cases.

It is such a great opportunity to promote the country and the designers! The challenge is to present a fancy thing that encapsulates the country attributes, combines tradition and contemporary life and is recognizable and memorable.

Tichelaar 'Patchwork plates' by Marcel Wanders – original collection of random decorated plates

I have noticed that some time ago new trend has come. I don't know if it is a massive tendency but it is observable. I am thinking about different elements of one collection and I mean elements as one kind products e.g. chairs.

The nice example of this approach are 'Patchwork plates' designed by Marcel Wanders for Royal Ticheraal Makkum, over 400 years old Netherlands ceramic company. A series of 30 differently decorated plates in 5 sizes was designed in 2003 for Royal Tichelaar's debut at the Salone del Mobile of Milan.

Variously shaped wall clocks made of old vinyl records. "Re Vinyl" by Pavel Sidorenko

Another nice idea of giving new life to the old favorites. And what a master realization!

Estonian designer Pavel Sidorenko creates wall clocks made of vinyl plates. They are laser-cut to shapes of landscapes, animals and utility objects. All the silhouettes from Re Vinyl collection are simple and well recognizable. What's more, every record used for the production is limited edition.
