Chairs. Comfort is the priority.

Like a paraglider in a trapeze, the user floats in a fabric-spanned seat, which is suspended inside the tubular steel frame by two belts and hung over the top. Although the back is made of only one layer of fabric, it offers a comfortable contour thanks to its precise cut, at once supporting the body and allowing for a wide range of motion. The tubular steel frame is shaped to offer the flexibility of a cantilever chair, which when combined with a seat and neck cushion provide a level of comfort previously attainable only with conventional upholstered furnishings.

Chairs. Praise the Technology!

Random8 chair by David Lesort and Arnaud Giroud of Pitaya Design is shaped like a brilliant cut diamond. It’s transparent so the light passes it through. It shines in every color of the rainbow and changes its colors depending on the ambient light and on the viewing angle. The chair creates its own lighting effects thanks to the dichroic treatment of the Plexiglas. It also reflects colourful shapes on the surrounding walls and floor, thanks to the reflecting properties of the material.

Chairs. The oddest.

Spun chair by Thomas Heatherwick for Magis is a rotating chair  which resembles a spinning top.  When lent on its side it forms a comfortable and functional chair that the sitter can rock from side to side in, or spin round in a complete circle. It is made of rotational moulded polyethylene and can be used outdoors and eventually recycled.

Seats inspired by forest

Forest is inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers. Trees, trunks, leaves, wild animals reflect in colours, shapes and structures … I guess many people misses nature, especially when they live in a big city.
